"When you look at the miracle of truly being in your body it's like reading an incredible book. We've become dulled to the outside world and to dulled our inside world and wanting new sensation all the time, when new sensation is actually available to us all just by reading our interior landscape" Margie Gillis

Individual and/or collective issues of conflict are explored and worked through with imaginative, playful, sensory-based embodiment and movement practices.  A method of creative re-training developed by Margie Gillis, this work helps us get unstuck from patterns of unproductive processes and interpersonal conditioning and prepares us to develop confidence in implementing these practices in any situation.

Many of us develop strategies that were appropriate at a certain time in our life and then we find that those strategies are no longer appropriate. We're actually doing more harm to ourselves by not being able to drop those strategies and move forward, however it's very difficult to do so until we develop new ones that are more compelling.

In working with Conflict Transformation it is not necessary to discuss what the issue is about, why it's there or why it's happened. We are working with it as a transformation of energy and for the health of the body. All internal and external sensory information is first taken in through the body, then goes to the brain and then returns to the body - what we think, what we feel, our inner landscape all become electricity, nerves and tension, affecting our physical being. When conflict happens we are changed by it. When engagement happens we are changed by it. We live in a society that tells us we need to figure out the problem in order to shift it, however there is another way - we can find the cure through expansion of body and mind, through softer textures and fluidity in our movements, while maintaining a sense of resilience. If we can get into our bodies even for a short period of time we can find major transformation on both an individual level and societal level, and that what this work is all about!

The offer is part of the impulse Monday workshops, where dance enthusiasts can always get into different styles.
