Vom 5. bis 11. April stellen wir in unserer Mediathek die Tänzerin und Choreografin Oona Doherty vor. Im Herbst ist ihr Stück Hope Hunt dann Live im EinTanzHaus zu erleben.

Cara Holmes set up Holmes-Made Films in 2014 to create socially aware films and documentaries that make you think. Her innovative, poetic and visually arresting documentary Welcome to a Bright White Limbo is a portrait of Oona Doherty and the creative process of her award-winning show Hope Hunt.

Cara Holmes

Cara Holmes is a film editor and director. She specialises in feature and broadcast documentary, as well as TV dramas, observational documentary series, experimental and short films.

Cara's editing credits include feature documentaries THE FATHER OF THE CYBORGS 2021 (Screen Ireland/RTÉ/BAI) and LOST IN FRANCE 2016 (Screen Ireland/Creative Scotland). This feature documentary received it's world premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, it has also screened at the Galway Film Fleadh and CPH:DOX. Other documentary edits include IN LEAGUE WITH GADAFFI and Cara co-directed and edited the documentary TEENAGE AMBASSADORS, an inspiring story of teenage best friends Natasha and Minahil who grew up in the direct provision centre in Athlone, Ireland. Cara's most recent directing work was the IFTA winning documentary WELCOME TO A BRIGHT WHITE LIMBO. Combining documentary and live dance performance, this visually arresting film dives into the mind and creative process of Oona Doherty' and her award winning dance show Hope Hunt. The film premiered at the Cork International Film Festival, 2019 and has screened at the Dublin International Film Festival, 2020 where it was awarded Best Irish short 2020. Cara was also awarded the DISCOVERY AWARD at the festival. The film received a Special Jury Mention at the Tribeca Film Festival NYC 2020 and it has screened internationally at HotDocs 2020, Newport Beach Festival, Sheffield DocFest 2020, Aesthetica Film Festival 2020. It also won best short film at Still Voices Film Festival 2020, Gaze Film Festival 2020, the IFI documentary festival and the Catalyst International Film Festival, 2020.

Other directing credits include the short documentary QUEEN OF THE PLOUGH which won Best Short Documentary at the Galway Film Fleadh in 2015. Her short films THE CONDOM MAN and DRAMA DARLINGS have screened at over twenty film festivals worldwide.

Oona Doherty

Oona Doherty is a Dance Artist based in Northern Ireland. She studied at The London School of Contemporary Dance, University of Ulster and LABAN London with BA Honours and Post Graduate in Contemporary Dance Studies. She has been performing Dance Theatre internationally since 2010 with Companies such as: TRASH (NL), Abbattoir Ferme (BE), Veronika Riz (IT), Emma Martin /United Fall (IE), Enda Walsh (IE).

Oona's choreography has toured internationally to critical acclaim: Hope Hunt & the ascension into Lazarus (2015/21), Hard to be Soft - A Belfast Prayer (2017/21), Lady Magma (2019/21).

2017 Hope Hunt Winner of the Major Individual Artist Award from the Arts Council Northern Ireland

The program UND JETZT? is funded in the impulse program "Kunst trotz Abstand" of the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Württemberg.
